Japanada is an "archipelago" micronation in Midwest America. Despite the country being surrounded completely by dry land, many of its residents consider it to be an archipelago because of its scattered territories in the United States and in locations including Japan and Norway. It has a population of around a hundred as of 2025.
Although Japanada began as a humble Earth-country, it has since expanded extraterrestrially with the help of technology and research company Bunkie R&D. The majority of its territory now exists on a seperate plane of existence, the location of which is unknown. The land on this plane is divided into six prefectures, each of which is maintained by different members of the Fruit Cabinet. Japanada's capitol and largest city is Tokytario.
History

Japanada, despite its age, has developed a rich history. It declared independence from the United States on January 28, 2025, but it has existed as a micronation since the fall of 2021.
Early History
Japanada began as a micronation in 2021. Its founding members include Lizard, Zine, Clam, June, Chair and some of their friends. During this time Japanada existed as a democratic monarchy, although this form of government didn't last long enough for a formal election to be held. The territory claimed by Japanada in 2021 included a portion of open land surrounded privately owned property. This land provided many curious experiences for the founders of Japanada, including by not limited to the appearance (and sudden, violent disappearance) of a plastic bell pepper and hole in the ground.
In the spring of 2022 a brief civil war occured as a result of some forgotten dispute, which split Japanada into two seperate nations: Cubanada and New Japanada. This lasted until the fall of 2022, where the disagreements between Cubanada (governed by Chair and his friend) and New Japanada (governed by Lizard and Clam) were settled and Cubanada became a sort of military aid for New Japanada. Eventually, this led to an alliance and a reunital between the two micronations. Japanada is no longer referred to as New Japanada, and Cubanada no longer exists.
In late 2022 and early 2023, the age of M. Jacksonism began, where religion (which at that time was more strongly associated with the government) revolved around deceased American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson. Eventually Japanada transitioned to more morally acceptable figures of worship, some of which include everything bagels, Dolly Parton, Hatsune Miku, and the Japanadian deity Jeremy. During this era the concept of the Fruit Cabinet was proposed as a replacement to the monarchy-based system that was currently in use. Japanadian founders Chair, Clam, June, Lizard, Zine made up its members, although they would accept more members into the cabinet in the future.
Modern Japanada
In modern times, Japanada exists as a neo-marxist communist nation. Although it has a form of currency and a functional treasury branch managed by the Fruit Cabinet, these elements of Japanada are purely ornamental.
As aforementioned, Japanada declared its independence from the United States on January 28, 2025. Since then it has existed as a completely independent micronation. Huzzah!
Much of Japanada's popular culture today revolves around the interests of members of the Fruit Cabinet. These interests include media from an impressive range of genres and include
Etymology
Japanada is a portmanteau of two more widely known nations, Japan and Canada. Originally, Japanada aimed to blend these two distinct cultures, although today pop culture in Japanada has moved away from this goal. Symbols of these efforts remain, such as its historical capitol Tokytario.
The majority of Japanada's population speaks Japanadian English, a dialect similar to its core language but different in that it includes slang developed within the Fruit Cabinet.
